Small Businesses in Iraq

To smart a small business, citizens don’t need to get a business license. They can rent a shop and open for business at their leisure.

Markets, mobile phone shops–services, accessories, prepaid cards, etc.–restaurants, pharmacies, auto mechanics, clothing, shoes, apparel and tea cafes are common small businesses in Iraq.

Mostly men create and run small businesses in Iraq. Most of the shops that women own include hairdressing, makeup, perfume, etc.

Chain Stores in Iraq

There are very few chain stores. Maximo clothing store has many branches in Iraq – 4 branches in Baghdad and a few branches in Erbil. There is a restaurant in Baghdad that is called Summit Restaurant – it has branches in Baghdad, Erbil and UAE.
